This piece of Art was done in coloured pencil using various brands to create the iridescent feathers that are connected to this beautiful but small bird. I used Fabriano Artistic HP paper and the pencils were polychromes, Lightfast and Luminance. The reference was provided kindly by Kyle Blakey (www.Kyleblaney.com) The piece comes mounted.
Annas Hummingbird is a medium sized bird. It belongs to the family species Trochilidae it was named after the Duchess of Rivoli. the bird is native to western coastal regions of North America. They are one of the most common of the hummingbirds but their colours are are iridescent.
